Pourrain
In our village of Pourrain, the Chapelle St-Baudel is a 16th-century chapel with 17th-century paintings on the panelled vault.
It was built to enable services to continue in Pourrain during the rebuilding of its church around 1540.
The paintings on the vault feature floral and architectural motifs, birds and faces.
A motto is inscribed: "Bien faire et laisser dire " ( "Do well and let it be said "). The vault is listed as a Historic Monument.

The church dedicated to Saint Serge and Saint Bach roman knights martyred in Syria around 300 A.D., was originally a Romanesque building on the eastern slope of the hill.
In the 16th century, a very large choir was built in place of the small cul-de-four apse, and in the 19th century, a neo-Gothic nave with two side aisles and the bell tower, flanked by a graceful hexagonal turret, were rebuilt.
Notre Dame de Lourdes Grotto opposite our guesthouse.
Abbé Bruni, parish priest of Pourrain and a member of the Resistance who was deported, vowed to build a shrine to Notre-Dame de Lourdes if he survived the Nazi death camps.
And so, on May 2, 1954, Mgr Lamy came to bless the grotto and statue, built by a team of volunteer parishioners with materials from the demolition of a mill in St Thibault.
On the ground, Bernardette contemplates the Virgin appearing in the rock.
Beneath the vaulted ceiling is an altar where pilgrim mass is celebrated on Assumption Day.
